ISO 45001, Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems - Requirements with Guidance for Use, was published on March 12, 2018. This international standard has been many years in development, evolving from other standards including BS 8800 in the 1990s and OHSAS 18001 in 2000. A similar standard, ANSI/AIHA Z10-2012, Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, was published in 2012.

There are many benefits related to using ISO 45001 as a benchmark for your health and safety program. There are similarities in approach of this standard with ISO 14001, Environmental Management System - Requirements with Guidance for Use. The ISO Integrated Management System article below addresses its approach and benefits.

Please feel free to e-mail me and we can set aside some time to discuss how 1Source Safety and Health can help you address ISO 45001 and ISO Integrated Management Systems. We can also help you benchmark against other OHSMS standards.

Sincerely,
Colin J. Brigham, CIH, CSP, CPE, CPEA, CSPHP
